What can Hypnosis do for Me?
Do you have an area of your life
you would like to change or improve?
Perhaps you would like
to perform better at your job and make more money. Do you want to
imporve your relationship with others? Maybe you engage in some
competitive activity or
sport and want to improve your golf or chess game. Are you a musician
or artist and would like to enhance your creativity and skills? Do you
smoke and would like to quit? Are you overweight and would like lose weight? Are you a student that does poorly on tests
because
of test anxiety? If you are like
40 million Americans you may live with stress and anxiety and have
difficulty sleeping.
Are you
one of the people that suffer unnecessary panic attacks, fears and
phobias? Is high blood pressure a problem for you? Do you have chronic
pain? Have
you ever had a medical procedure performed that required healing and
pain management? If you answered yes to any of the questions above then
hypnosis could help.
It has long been
recognized and requires little direct observation to see that the
majority of our mind activity occurs below our conscious
awareness. It is obvious that our bodily functions are designed to
operate
without any conscious intention. It can be said that the invisible subconscious mind
controls virtually all of our behavior.
If our body and
behavior
is controlled by subconscious processes below our awareness, how can we
possibly change our bodily functions and our reponse to the world
around us? To change we
would need to be able to intentionally access and reset the control
functions inherent in
the subconscious mind. Through the process of hypnosis, we can not only
access the control functions of our subconscious mind, we can change
the way
our subconscious mind reacts to and processes information and
experience. By
intentionally altering the processing of information and our experience we
can
change our subconscious response and alter our behavior.
What is Hypnosis
Hypnosis is a natural psychological process of directed attention that provides access to the subconscious control functions of the mind.
The hypnotic state can be induced using a wide array of different techniques to direct the attention. Some common techiques are deep breathing, creative visualization, observation of sensation. progressive relaxation, a sudden shock and a state of confusion. Even common everyday experiences of sustained directed attention such as driving, watching television or reading a book can create a hypnotic state.Entering the Hypnotic State
Sit in a relaxed place
with your feet flat on the floor and
your
hands flat on your thighs. Take an easy deep breath down into your
belly. Hold
it for a second, now let it out slowly. Take another easy
deep breath down into your belly. Hold it for a second. Now let it out
slowly. Again, take another easy deep breath down into your
belly. Hold it for a second. Now let it out slowly. What does
your body feel like? Has it started to grow warm, do you feel a gentle
warm tingling over your skin.
You have begun the process of entering a relaxed physical and mental state, the doorway to the hypnotic state.
“To dream anything that you want to dream. That's the beauty of the human mind. To do anything that you want to do. That is the strength of the human will. To trust yourself to test your limits. That is the courage to succeed.” Bernard Edmonds
